Rochester City School District had the highest enrollment among Monroe County school districts, welcoming 23,545 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.8% of them were boys, and 49.2% were girls.

Data also showed that the majority of students were Black, making up 51.3% of Rochester City School District's total enrollment.

Among the 32 districts in Monroe County, Greece Central School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 10,251 students, while Webster Central School District welcomed 8,054 students and ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Rochester City School District roughly covers schools within Monroe County and has a main office in Rochester.

In the previous school year, Rochester City School District also had the highest number of students among Monroe County districts.

In 2022, New York had roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is lower than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
