City of Rochester issued the following on Oct. 13
City to conduct virtual information session on crisis intervention services office
The newly-renamed City of Rochester Department of Recreation and Human Services will conduct a virtual information session to provide the public with an update on the City’s new Crisis Intervention Services Office at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Formerly the Department of Recreation and Youth Services, City Council approved the name change tonight to reflect the changing role of the Department – and the changing needs of the community. The new Crisis Intervention Services Office will create a non-law enforcement, comprehensive community response to homicides, as well as calls involving mental health, domestic violence and other related crises.
On Thursday evening, residents will have an opportunity to learn more about the Office during the virtual information session. Department of Recreation and Human Services Commissioner Daniele Lyman-Torres will provide a progress update on the creation of the Office and describe its purpose, structure and connectivity with the community’s existing services. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.
