Joe Morelle, a representative in the U.S. Congress for New York's 25th District, shared his concerns regarding several issues on April 11, 2025. Morelle, who succeeded Louise Slaughter in 2018, has been in Congress since then and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. The Congressman addressed energy costs, retirement security, and local advocacy efforts in a series of posts.

On the afternoon of April 11, Morelle criticized the Trump administration's actions concerning the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), highlighting its importance for families in Rochester. "Families in Rochester rely on the LIHEAP program to survive cold winters, especially as reckless tariffs threaten to increase energy costs." He expressed displeasure with the administration's decision to eliminate staff responsible for the program.

Later that day, Morelle expressed his views on the security of retirement for older Americans under the current administration. He stated, "Older Americans have worked their entire careers for the promise of a safe, stable retirement. With each day of the Trump administration, that promise is slipping further and further away."

In the evening, Morelle expressed his gratitude towards local organizations from Rochester visiting Washington, D.C. He appreciated their advocacy efforts, sharing, "Thanks to the many local organizations visiting D.C. who stopped by my constituent coffee hour to discuss how we can best support their work." He emphasized the value of their contributions towards uplifting their communities.

Joseph Morelle, currently aged 65, resides in Irondequoit and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo, which he obtained in 1986.
