The recent incident at Marcy Correctional Facility has drawn strong reactions from local officials. Among them, a notable response came from Hawley, who expressed deep concern over the events that transpired.
"The incident at Marcy Correctional Facility was appalling and should not be tolerated," Hawley stated. He further mentioned having discussions with several correctional officers in the community who share his feelings of disgust and outrage about the tragedy.
Hawley emphasized that such incidents do not reflect the character of most corrections officers, whom he described as "hardworking, dedicated and professional." He called for those responsible to face legal consequences: "Those responsible should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law."
