Value of Rochester-based Consumer Discretionary company Eastman Kodak Co. (KODK:NYQ) rose 36,168.5% on Oct. 25

Value in Consumer Discretionary stocks fell 6.2 percent on Oct. 25 from the previous day.

The strongest performing Consumer Discretionary company in New York was Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. (MSGE:NYQ), sitting 4,668,757.4 percent higher to sell at $48.81.

Turtle Beach Corp. (HEAR:NMQ) fared the worst among New York companies, suffering a 100 percent drop to $6.95.

Among Rochester companies, Eastman Kodak Co. (KODK:NYQ) saw the highest rise in value of 36,168.5 percent on Oct. 25.

The Consumer Staples sector was the daily best-performing sector on the market.

Financials was the worst-performing sector.

Healthcare and technology stocks are viewed as the safest bets for long-term gains.

Besty Kuekcer with Benzinga.com said healthcare-related stocks, such as hospital conglomerates and insurance companies, have weathered numerous economic crises and still make a profit, suggesting that they are generally a stable investment.

While technology stocks can be more risky, given the boom-bust nature of new tech companies, Kuecker recommended a diverse portfolio of tech companies to strike it big when companies succeed or sell to other larger companies.

For short-term investments, Kuecker recommended “consumer discretionary” stocks, which are sensitive to economic changes but can rise greatly on the back of a strong economy.
