Rush Methodist Church recently issued the following announcement.
We are pleased to inform you we are compliant with the New York State (NYS) and Upper New York Conference (UNYC) requirements to resume live worship services. We have agreed to begin this process slowly and with great caution. Thus, effective August 9, 2020 we will open with a single service at 10 AM. We will expand worship options as attendance demands. We are confident additional service can be held in compliance with the requirements.
There are several requirements that must be followed to assure a safe and successful reopening. We will be following all NYS and UNYC guidelines regarding a safe opening of our church.
Reservations are required for attendance. We are required to limit the number of attendees to adhere to the six-foot rule. Reservations are being taken by Joyce Smith. You can contact her at 585-356-5310 or jpsmith@rochester.rr.com. Reservations need to be made by Friday at 5:00 pm. Priority for the next available service will be given for those closed out of a service.
If you answer ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, we lovingly ask that you not enter the church and worship online from home. In the Last 14 days have you:
o Tested Positive for COVID-19?
o Had COVID-19 symptoms?
o Had close contact with someone with COVID-19?
Upon entrance to the church we are required to sign-in and provide your telephone number. Greeters and ushers will be available to guide you through this process including hand sanitizing requirements.
Masks must be worn at all times. Masks must cover both the nose and mouth. If you do not have a mask , one will be provided.
Keep social distancing of 6 feet. We have marked off the floor in both the entry area and the sanctuary. We have also taped off pews to maintain the six-foot social distancing rule. Ushers will direct you to your reserved seat. We must refrain from hugging or hand shaking.
We will sing silently. You may hum along. Please send prayer request to the church office.
Once the service has ended, ushers will direct you to exit by row.
Restrooms will be open with a limit of two people allowed in each restroom at a time. When leaving the restroom, you are required to sanitize items that you have touched. The Ushers will be available to assure the process is followed. The remainder of the church remains closed.
Coffee and snacks are not allowed in the facility.
We will be streaming the service so you can continue to attend remotely from your home should you desire that option. Anyone who does not feel comfortable attending in person, is immunocompromised, or at high risk, should continue to attend and participate online.
Weekly Holy Communion will return in the future.
We look forward to enjoying a safe reopening and sharing in God’s LOVE.
We will keep you informed regarding additional services as circumstances develop.
