Joseph Morelle, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, has shared several tweets promoting cultural heritage and addressing economic concerns. Morelle, who has served in Congress since 2018 after succeeding Louise Slaughter, has a history of public service dating back to his time in the New York State Assembly. He is known for his advocacy on various issues impacting his constituents.
On May 3, 2025, Morelle recognized Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, stating, “It’s Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! This month, we celebrate the voices, stories, culture, and contributions of the AANHPI communities. From past to present, their impact helps shape our nation’s story.”
The following day, May 4, 2025, Morelle participated in Rochester’s Jewish community’s Jewish Veterans Memorial Service. He emphasized the importance of remembrance, tweeting, “I was honored to join Rochester’s Jewish community today for their annual Jewish Veterans Memorial Service. Remembrance is an active responsibility. Today, as we honor the memory of those we’ve lost, we recommit ourselves to living up to the ideals they fought to defend.”
Later on May 4, Morelle commented on the economic impact of tariffs, advocating for a focus on reducing living costs. He expressed concern in this tweet: “The burden of tariffs falls squarely on the shoulders of hardworking families just trying to get by. We need to end this chaos and focus on lowering costs for our communities.”
