Joseph Morelle, a current U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, has been vocal about several issues on social media this April. Elected in 2018 to succeed Louise Slaughter, Morelle also served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his congressional election. On April 4, 2025, Morelle shared his critiques of former President Donald Trump’s economic strategies. He wrote, “Trump’s plan? Tank the stock market, jeopardize your retirement, and reward the ultra-wealthy with tax breaks.”

On April 5, 2025, Morelle announced the acceptance of submissions for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. The theme is “Why I Love Rochester,” and he stated, “This year’s theme is: ‘Why I Love Rochester.’ The winning piece will be showcased in the United States Capitol for the next year, representing the artistic talents of our community.
