U.S. Congressman Joseph Morelle, who represents New York’s 25th district, posted a series of statements on social media on November 4, 2025, addressing election security and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

In his first post at 17:00 UTC, Morelle emphasized the importance of secure elections: “Our elections should be free, fair & safe—anything less goes against our democratic values. Every voter should be able to cast their ballot today free from fear or threat. Grateful to law enforcement who swiftly responded to the threats reported in New Jersey.”

Later that day at 17:30 UTC, he encouraged voter participation: “Election Day is your chance to make your voice heard and shape your future! If you haven’t cast your ballot already, visit https://t.co/XseTvvbwwR to find your polling place and get additional voter information.”

At 17:45 UTC, Morelle commented on the status of SNAP funding and criticized former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding its distribution: “Not only is there already funding available for SNAP, Donald Trump has been ordered by the federal courts to use it. He is choosing, illegally, to force kids to go hungry until he gets his way. He should be ashamed.”

Joseph Morelle has served in Congress since 2018 after replacing Louise Slaughter and previously spent nearly three decades in the New York State Assembly. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
