U.S. Congressman Joseph Morelle, who represents New York’s 25th district, recently used his social media platform to address several issues ranging from U.S. commitments abroad to local education initiatives and the importance of public service.
On July 31, 2025, Morelle commented on the United States’ obligations to Afghan allies. In a post he stated, “We made our Afghan allies a promise in exchange for their courage and loyalty. Failing to honor that promise is unacceptable and will have severe consequences on our moral standing in the world.”
Later that day, Morelle marked National Intern Day by acknowledging the efforts of interns working in his office. He wrote on July 31, 2025: “It’s National Intern Day! I’m grateful for our hardworking intern teams whose dedication makes a difference in our office every day. Engaging in public service is vital for the future of our democracy—and I’m inspired by the next generation of leaders who step up to serve.”
The following day, August 1, 2025, Morelle shared his visit to an educational center focused on adult learners. He posted: “I visited @RCSDOACES to meet the inspiring adult learners building brighter futures through education, job training, and civic engagement. I’m proud to support their work to uplift community members experiencing major life transitions.”
Joseph Morelle has served as a member of Congress since 2018 after succeeding Louise Slaughter and previously held office in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his move to Congress. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit at age 65, Morelle graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a bachelor’s degree in 1986.
