Joseph Morelle, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 25th district, recently expressed his views on social media regarding various issues, including healthcare cuts, community service, and political actions by the executive branch. Morelle has been serving in Congress since 2018 after replacing Louise Slaughter and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018.
On May 13, 2025, Joe Morelle addressed concerns over potential reductions in Medicaid funding. He warned that such “cuts to Medicaid will leave seniors and children without care and gut hospitals and long-term care facilities.” He emphasized that these would be the largest Medicaid cuts in American history and argued against them being implemented for the benefit of billionaire donors receiving tax cuts.
Later that day, Morelle shared his experience visiting Lollypop Farm. In his post at 17:36 UTC, he described it as “a pleasure to visit @LollypopFarm for a tour of their facility and to hear about the important work they do for our community.” He commended their efforts in aiding thousands of animals annually.
In another tweet posted at 19:08 UTC on May 13, Morelle criticized an action taken by President Trump concerning the Library of Congress. He called it an “unprecedented power grab against the Library of Congress,” describing it as disgraceful. He announced his upcoming appearance on MSNBC’s Deadline White House to discuss this issue further.
Joseph Morelle was born in Utica, New York in 1957 and currently resides in Irondequoit. A graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo with a BA earned in 1986, he continues to serve his constituents actively through legislative work and public engagements.
