Joe Morelle, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 25th district, has expressed his viewpoints on a range of issues through recent social media posts. Morelle, who replaced previous U.S. Congress member Louise Slaughter in 2018 and has a history of public service dating back to his tenure in the New York State Assembly from 1991, shared his support for policy measures, discussed economic ramifications of trade policies, and emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship.
On April 21, 2025, Morelle wrote about Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposed budget, which he dubbed “Your Family Is My Fight.” The budget is designed to financially benefit working families by potentially providing up to $5,000 to aid with expenses like rent, groceries, and childcare. Morelle asserted, “.@GovKathyHochul’s ‘Your Family Is My Fight’ budget would put up to $5,000 back into the pockets of working families—helping parents pay the rent, fill the fridge, or cover childcare. I’m proud to stand with my partners in government in support of this plan and keep fighting.”
Later the same day, Morelle turned his attention to international trade issues. He commented on the ongoing trade conflict, suggesting that it continues to negatively affect the economy and, consequently, the financial situation of working families. He suggested a refocus of efforts to ameliorate such economic challenges, stating, “The reckless trade war continues to damage our economy—and working families are paying the price. It’s time to shift focus and lower costs where it matters most.”
The following day, sharing his thoughts on Earth Day, Morelle emphasized the significance of environmental awareness and protection. He mentioned that taking care of the planet is crucial not only for nature but for future generations as well. In his words, “Earth Day is about celebrating the planet and recognizing our responsibility to protect it. Not just for the sake of nature, but for our health, our children, and future generations.” Morelle, who resides in Irondequoit, New York, continues to engage in political discourse that emphasizes community welfare and sustainable practices.
