Joseph Morelle, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, recently shared insights and updates on his activities through a series of tweets. Having succeeded Louise Slaughter, Morelle has been an active participant in legislative matters and community engagement.
On May 21, 2025, Morelle expressed his admiration for Rep. Gerry Connolly. In a tweet he stated: “It’s been an honor to serve with Rep. Gerry Connolly. His leadership and dedication to his community will be remembered for generations, as will his great humor and generosity of spirit.” He emphasized the uplifting nature of conversations with Connolly.
Later that day, Morelle acknowledged the anniversary of the Red Cross: “Today we celebrate the Red Cross’s 144th birthday.” He highlighted Rochester’s historical significance as the location of the first American Red Cross blood donation center and commended local volunteers for continuing this legacy.
In another tweet on May 21, 2025, Morelle discussed economic relations with Canada after meeting with a Quebec delegation: “I met with a delegation from Quebec today to discuss NY’s unique relationship with Canada.” He noted that the region exports $668 million in goods annually to Canada and stressed efforts to advance mutual interests despite previous trade tensions under former President Trump’s tariffs.

Born in Utica in 1957, he currently resides in Irondequoit and holds a BA from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
