Joseph Morelle, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 25th district, has been active in sharing his legislative efforts and community engagements through social media. On June 18, 2025, he communicated with his constituents via Twitter about his recent activities and reflections on national issues.
On June 18, Morelle tweeted about his visit to Jewish Home Rochester where he discussed his work in Congress aimed at safeguarding programs vital to seniors. He emphasized his opposition to the Trump administration’s approach towards Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, asserting that he is committed to advocating for older Americans both locally in Rochester and across the nation.
Later that day, Morelle shared another post regarding a tour of the Lily Brook Retirement Home alongside Friendly Senior Services and SSJ Rochester. He expressed pride in collaborating with these community leaders to ensure seniors can age with dignity after their years of dedication to the community.
On June 19, Morelle reflected on Juneteenth through a tweet, describing it as both an acknowledgment of America’s troubled past and a celebration of progress toward equality for Black Americans. He called for renewed commitment to combating racial injustice on this significant day.
Joseph Morelle has been serving in Congress since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018. Prior to this role, he was part of the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his congressional appointment. Born in Utica, New York in 1957, Morelle currently resides in Irondequoit and holds a Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo obtained in 1986.
