Joe Morelle, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, shared his participation in various community events through social media posts. Morelle has been serving in Congress since 2018, succeeding Louise Slaughter. He was previously a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018.
On February 8, 2025, Morelle expressed his honor at joining the Asian Pacific American Public Affairs National Association (APAPA) at Monroe Community College for a Lunar New Year celebration. In his tweet, he stated: “Honored to join @APAPANational at MCC today for a Lunar New Year celebration. Together, we celebrated the rich cultural heritage and traditions that make this season so meaningful. Events like this serve as a reminder that diversity is not just our reality—it is our strength.”
In another post on the same day, Morelle congratulated Judge Meredith Vacca on her appointment as a U.S. Federal District Judge during the celebration event. He remarked: “During the celebration, we congratulated my good friend, Judge Meredith Vacca, on her appointment as a U.S. Federal District Judge. Her achievement is a historic moment for our community reflecting a significant step forward for representation and equity in our judicial system.”
On February 9, 2025, Morelle highlighted opportunities to celebrate Black history within the community throughout the month. He tweeted: “This month is full of opportunities to celebrate Black history in our community. What an inspiring time for our neighbors to come together to learn and connect over music, art, and guest speakers.”
