Joseph Morelle, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 25th district, has shared several updates through his social media platform. His recent posts reflect on historical figures, honor local emergency medical responders, and critique political decisions.
On May 20, 2025, Morelle commemorated Antoinette Brown Blackwell in a tweet, stating: “Today we honor Antoinette Brown Blackwell—born 200 years ago in Henrietta, NY—the first woman ordained as a mainstream Protestant minister in the U.S. A suffragist, reformer & trailblazer, she cast her first vote at 95. Her legacy still guides us.”
Later that day, Morelle acknowledged the contributions of emergency medical responders during #EMSWeek in another post: “This #EMSWeek, I’m proud to honor the heroic work of our emergency medical responders—and reaffirm my commitment to supporting them. We recently announced a $4.2 million investment in a training program to prepare the next generation of EMTs and paramedics in Monroe County.”
On May 21, 2025, Morelle criticized House Republicans for their handling of budget discussions in an early morning meeting through a tweet: “House Republicans held their committee meeting at 1:00 am to jam through a budget that will cut support for millions of Americans. They’re hiding from the public and doing this in the dead of night because they know this plan will harm working families.”
Joseph Morelle has been serving New York’s 25th district since succeeding Louise Slaughter in 2018. Before his tenure in Congress, he was part of the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his congressional election.
