Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, marked several civic milestones in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) from February 15 to February 16, 2026.
On February 15, Morelle commemorated the birthday of Susan B. Anthony by referencing her historic act in Rochester: “Susan B. Anthony cast her ballot in Rochester in 1872, and was arrested for it. She believed in a simple but powerful truth: every voice deserves to be heard. On her birthday, we recommit to protecting the right to vote for every eligible American.”
Later that day, Morelle announced the theme for the annual Congressional Art Competition: “Our 2026 Congressional Art Competition theme is ‘Celebrating the Erie Canal.’ The winning piece will be showcased in the Capitol for the next year, representing our community. Students across our region are encouraged to apply! For details visit: https://t.co/XzMNAwBYPz”
On Presidents’ Day, February 16, he reflected on national leadership and democratic values: “On Presidents’ Day, we reflect on the leaders who have shaped our nation, and the enduring responsibility to strengthen our democracy for the next generation.
