Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district and a former member of the New York State Assembly, shared updates on his recent activities and policy positions through a series of posts on May 26, 2026.
In a post dated May 26, 2026, Morelle invited local students and families to an event in Rochester: “Interested in attending a U.S. Service Academy? Join @SenGillibrand and me for an information night tomorrow night in Rochester to learn more about the admissions and congressional nomination process. Students and families are encouraged to attend.”
Later that day, Morelle highlighted his visit to Catholic Charities Family & Community Services’ YouthBuild program. In his words from the May 26 post: “Today I visited Catholic Charities Family & Community Services’ YouthBuild program to hear about their life-changing work. They’re giving young people the tools to succeed through job training and education, creating opportunity and strengthening our community.”
In another statement posted on May 26, Morelle called for changes regarding financial activities by public officials: “We need to end stock trading by members of Congress, by the president, and by the vice president, as we ought to get everyone out of prediction markets as well. This is insane.”
Joseph Morelle has represented New York’s 25th district since succeeding Louise Slaughter in 2018. Before joining Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his election to Congress. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle earned his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1986.
