Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, has recently posted a series of comments on social media addressing local achievements and national political issues.
On November 2, 2025, Morelle celebrated the athletic accomplishments of a community member by posting: “From Brighton to the big stage, what a postseason for Ernie Clement! The Blue Jays came up just a bit short, but Ernie’s record-breaking performance was one for the ages. He’s certainly made our community proud!”
Turning to federal policy concerns on November 3, 2025, Morelle addressed recent court decisions and their implications for food assistance programs: “The courts have ruled, the funding is there, Donald Trump must use emergency funds to restore SNAP benefits NOW. Our families can’t wait.”
Later that same day, he criticized former President Donald Trump’s actions during an ongoing government shutdown: “Talk about misplaced priorities. Rather than negotiate an end to the shutdown and a way to lower healthcare costs, Trump is off traveling the world and working on his new ballroom.”
Joseph Morelle has served in Congress since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018 and previously held office in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his congressional election. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle earned his BA from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1986.
