Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, shared updates on community funding, paid tribute to a late colleague, and highlighted anti-hunger efforts in a series of posts on March 12, 2026.
In a post at 12:47 p.m., Morelle announced new federal funding for his district: “Proud to have brought over $15 million back to our community through FY26 Community Project Funding. These projects will help support families across our region.”
Later that day at 2:39 p.m., Morelle expressed condolences following the passing of Assemblymember Catherine Nolan: “I’m mourning the loss of my dear friend and colleague, Assemblymember Catherine Nolan. Cathy dedicated decades of her life to public service. It was an honor and a privilege to work alongside her and to call her a dear friend. My thoughts are with her husband, Gerry, her son,”
At 4:23 p.m., Morelle posted about participating in an event focused on hunger relief: “I joined the Foodlink Membership Conference today to meet with the people on the front lines of fighting hunger in our community. I’m supporting their critical work by fighting to protect the programs that help families put food on the table.”
Joseph Morelle has represented New York’s 25th District in Congress since 2018 after succeeding Louise Slaughter. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his election to Congress. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a BA in 1986.
