Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, highlighted his ongoing support for health care programs and scientific research in a series of posts on social media this week.
On July 30, Morelle marked the anniversary of key federal health initiatives by stating, “For decades, Medicaid and Medicare have helped Americans in every zip code access high-quality, affordable health care. On the 60th anniversary of these programs we should be focused on strengthening them, not ripping care away.”
The following day, July 31, he expressed appreciation for recognition from local academic institutions: “Grateful to the @UofR and @RITtigers for this nomination and honored to be named a Champion of Science. I take pride in supporting the groundbreaking scientific research happening in our country, and I’m committed to policies that keep America at the forefront of innovation.”
Later that same day, Morelle described an event with seniors at Centro de Oro where he discussed policy concerns: “Grateful to join seniors at Centro de Oro for a meaningful conversation on threats to Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP, and how we can uplift our community. Their voices are vital—and I’ll keep fighting in Washington to protect the programs they depend on.”
Joseph Morelle has served as a member of Congress since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 through 2018. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a BA in 1986.
