Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, highlighted his recent engagements and legislative priorities in a series of tweets posted on July 16 and 17, 2025.
On July 16, Morelle shared details about his ongoing collaboration with Secure Families to improve voting access for military families. He wrote, “I met with @Secure_Families to discuss how we can help military families better access the ballot box. As leader of @HouseAdm_Dems, I’ve worked with them in the past & will continue to do so—our military families deserve to have their voices heard as they fight for our safety.”
Later that day, Morelle recognized the third anniversary of the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, emphasizing its significance as a mental health resource. He stated, “Today marks three years of the 998 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline—a critical mental health service. More than 16 million people have contacted it in three years, and I’m proud to support such an important community resource. Learn more at https://t.co/eUWA0yMuFo”.
On July 17, Morelle thanked participants from quantum-based companies who visited Capitol Hill to showcase advancements in technology. He tweeted, “Thank you to all the quantum-based companies and innovators who visited Capitol Hill today! These technologies are the future of advancements in communication, computing, sensing, and much more, and it was great to see all the amazing instruments on display.”
Joseph Morelle has represented New York’s 25th district since replacing Louise Slaughter in Congress in 2018. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his election to Congress. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1986.
