Joseph Morelle, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 25th district, has been actively communicating his efforts and positions through social media. Replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018, Morelle has a long-standing career that includes service in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica, New York, and residing in Irondequoit, Morelle frequently addresses legislative issues affecting his constituents.
On June 3rd, Joe Morelle announced on Twitter his upcoming appearance with Ali Vitali to discuss efforts aimed at protecting programs like SNAP and Medicaid for working families. He urged followers to tune in at around 5:40 am for this discussion. “Tomorrow, I’ll be up #WayTooEarly with @alivitali to discuss how I’m fighting to protect programs like SNAP and Medicaid and ensure our government is looking out for working families.”
The following morning on June 4th, he reminded his audience of his imminent live session with Ali Vitali on MSNBC by tweeting just before going live. He encouraged viewers not to miss it as he prepared for the broadcast. “I’m about to go live with @alivitali on @MSNBC. Don’t miss it!”
Later that day, Morelle addressed concerns over proposed Republican cuts to Medicaid via Twitter. He highlighted the potential adverse effects these cuts could have on services vital to older Americans who have spent their lives contributing to society. In his view, abandoning seniors through such measures is unjustifiable cruelty.“Republicans have proposed cuts to Medicaid that would devastate the services older Americans rely on.”
Joseph Morelle graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a BA in 1986.
