Joseph Morelle, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, recently shared his thoughts and initiatives on social media. Born in Utica, New York in 1957, Morelle has been an active political figure for decades, having served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018 before taking office in Congress.
On May 5, 2025, Morelle highlighted his legislative efforts by mentioning the PREPARE Act. He stated that “That’s why I’ve authored legislation like the PREPARE Act which would help protect our small businesses from economic hardship caused by disastrous flooding.” This act aims to mitigate the financial impact of natural disasters on small enterprises.
In another post on the same day, Morelle emphasized the importance of supporting local businesses during National Small Business Week. He criticized past administrative policies by saying “This #NationalSmallBusinessWeek, local businesses need our support more than ever. While the Trump administration puts small businesses at risk with his reckless trade war, I’m fighting for policies that bring opportunities and resources to small businesses and bolster our”. His statement underscores his commitment to fostering a supportive environment for these entities.
The following day, May 6, 2025, Morelle attended a rally focused on ending breast cancer alongside organizations such as NBCCStopBC and BCCRoc. Reflecting on this event he remarked “Honored to spend time with @NBCCStopBC and members of our local @BCCRoc at this morning’s Rally to End Breast Cancer. This cause is deeply personal to me and my family, and I’m grateful for the passion of these advocates as we work together towards a cancer-free future.” His involvement highlights his personal connection and dedication to combating cancer.
