Joseph Morelle, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, has been vocal on various issues through his social media platform. His recent tweets highlight concerns about investment in future generations, community milestones, and judicial decisions impacting voter rights.
On June 7, 2025, Morelle expressed concern over the lack of investment in resources necessary for the next generation to lead effectively. He described this oversight as “shortsighted and irresponsible.”
The following day, June 8, 2025, Morelle attended a significant event at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Rochester. He shared his experience on social media stating he was “honored to join the congregation” as they celebrated their centennial anniversary of faith and service.
Later that same day, Morelle reflected on a Supreme Court decision from two years prior regarding legislative maps. He highlighted the ruling in Allen v. Milligan as a step toward justice by affirming that states cannot draw racially discriminatory maps to diminish the power of voters of color. This decision was noted as “a meaningful step toward justice,” though he acknowledged that “the fight for fair access continues.”
Joseph Morelle has served in Congress since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018 and previously held office in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica and currently residing in Irondequoit, he graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a BA.
