Joseph Morelle, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, shared several updates on social media regarding his recent activities and views. These posts provide insight into his engagements with local educational organizations, media appearances, and opinions on federal budget policies.
On June 20, 2025, Morelle expressed his support for educators by sharing that he had met with representatives from the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and the Rochester Teachers Association (RochesterTA). He stated, “Yesterday, I met with @nysut and the @RochesterTA—two organizations representing the dedicated educators and staff who keep our communities strong. Proud to stand with their members in the fight for quality public education and fair working conditions.”
Later that day, Morelle announced an upcoming appearance on WXXI News. He tweeted at 17:04 UTC: “In just a few minutes, I’ll be joining Evan Dawson on @WXXINews. Tune in!” This suggests his active engagement with local media to discuss relevant issues.
Concluding his series of tweets on June 20, Morelle criticized the Trump administration’s budget policy. At 20:37 UTC, he commented: “The Trump administration’s budget is actually quite simple: borrow money from the poorest in our country to pay for tax breaks for the wealthiest. It’s un-American.” This statement reflects his stance against what he perceives as economic inequality promoted by these policies.
Joseph Morelle has been serving in Congress since 2018 after succeeding Louise Slaughter. Prior to this role, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his congressional appointment. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle holds a BA from SUNY Geneseo.
