Joseph Morelle, a U.S. Congress member representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, recently shared his views on social media regarding various national issues. Known for his advocacy in supporting the middle class and public services, Morelle took to Twitter to express concerns about recent policy proposals and public service matters.

On March 23, 2025, Morelle commented on a report from the Yale Budget Lab concerning the Trump administration’s budget plan. According to Morelle, “A new report from the Yale Budget lab shows the Trump budget would raise costs for 40% of Americas while 70% of the benefits go to the richest 5%.” He further criticized the administration by stating that “The Trump Administration is unequivocally prioritizing the interests of the wealthiest Americans—not the hardworking middle class.”

Later that day, at a rally with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), Morelle voiced his support for maintaining public control over postal services. On March 23, 2025, he tweeted, “Proud to stand with @NALC_National today as we rally to defend the United States Postal Service that connects our nation, serves every zip code, and provides careers that support families.” He concluded with a firm stance: “The Postal Service is not for sale.”

On March 24, 2025, Morelle addressed issues facing Social Security recipients. In his tweet he posed a critical question about recent administrative decisions: “What do you get when you force Social Security recipients to seek help in person, then close their local Social Security office?” He described these actions as effectively reducing benefits by stating it was “A de facto cut to Social Security benefits, plain and simple.”
