Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, has voiced concerns on social media regarding recent federal policy decisions and their impact on the American economy and national competitiveness.
On July 19, 2025, Morelle criticized the Trump administration’s approach to trade policy, stating: “The Trump administration’s chaotic and unpredictable trade policies continue to put our economy at risk. Families are already paying too much trying to make ends meet—rising prices are a burden they can’t take.”
The following day, he addressed proposed budgetary measures in Congress: “We cannot allow funding cuts proposed by the Trump administration and House Republicans to decimate our country’s competitiveness.” In another post that same day, he referenced a historic milestone in American innovation: “56 years ago, Neil Armstrong became the first person to step onto the Moon’s surface cementing America as a global leader in innovation. Today, that leadership is being threatened by cuts to research and education programs that will leave our children in second place.”
Joseph Morelle has served as the representative for New York’s 25th District since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018. Prior to his congressional tenure, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 through 2018. Born in Utica, New York in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated with a BA from State University of New York at Geneseo in 1986.
