Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, has criticized former President Donald Trump and his administration in a series of posts on social media, focusing on issues related to healthcare costs and tariffs.
On August 10, 2025, Morelle posted: “Once again, President Trump has no interest in lowering costs for American families. That should be our number one priority.”
Later that day, he commented further on healthcare policy: “The Trump administration wants to play games with our neighbors’ healthcare. I’ve fought my entire career to increase access to life-saving care for our communities, and I won’t stop now.”
On August 11, 2025, Morelle addressed the issue of tariffs: “Reckless tariffs hurt American consumers and make it even harder for families to make ends meet. We need to keep working for an America where hard work pays off and a good life is affordable.”
Joseph Morelle succeeded Louise Slaughter as representative of New York’s 25th district in Congress after her passing in 2018. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his congressional election. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
