U.S. Congressman Joe Morelle, who represents New York’s 25th district, recently addressed several policy issues in a series of posts on his official Twitter account. The topics ranged from tariffs and cost of living to health care policies and redistricting efforts in Texas.
On August 8, 2025, Morelle criticized current tariff policies, stating, “You deserve better than senseless tariffs that continue to raise the cost of living. I’m focused on lowering expenses by driving down housing costs, making child care more affordable, and putting money in your pocket for essentials.”
Later that same day, he commented on proposed changes to health care policy: “We know cutting American’s health care to further enrich billionaires is corrupt. I will keep demanding answers and fighting against these unjust policies.”
On August 9, 2025, Morelle addressed redistricting initiatives in Texas linked to former President Donald Trump: “Trump’s push for redistricting in Texas is a shameful power grab. This another act of voter suppression because he knows Americans don’t want his self-serving policies.”
Joseph Morelle has served as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 25th District since 2018 after succeeding Louise Slaughter. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 until 2018. Born in Utica, New York in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1986.
