Morelle addressed his concerns over the “Stop Insider Trading Act” and called for stricter measures to restore public trust in government.
On January 20, 2026, Morelle posted: “The ‘Stop Insider Trading Act’ put forth by my Republican colleagues does nothing to stop Trump’s self-dealing actions. We need real change that restores trust in our government.”

Joseph Morelle has served in Congress since 2018 after succeeding Louise Slaughter and is a longtime resident of Irondequoit. Before his current role, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica in 1957, Morelle earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1986.
