Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, has voiced concerns over proposed Republican budget cuts and election oversight efforts in a series of posts on July 22, 2025.
In his first post at 14:55 UTC, Morelle wrote, “Our children and grandchildren deserve access to clean air & water, parks, and museums. We’re on the verge of losing our nation’s natural wonders to Republican cuts. Watch me fight back alongside @AppropsDems: https://t.co/D1fpWl766Y”.
Later that day at 18:14 UTC, he provided a link to his extended comments with the message, “Hear my full remarks: https://t.co/kbQ7IqZjPy”.
On the same date and time, Morelle commented on a committee hearing by stating, “Today’s @HouseAdm_Dems committee hearing was called by my Republican colleagues to create an illusion of election oversight while they attempt to make the case to purge eligible voters from voter lists under the guise of ‘election security’. https://t.co/IdJhxH4vcf”.
Joseph Morelle succeeded Louise Slaughter in Congress after her passing in 2018 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his election to Congress. Born in Utica, New York in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
