Joseph Morelle, who has represented New York’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress since 2018, recently addressed several issues and upcoming events through a series of posts on social media. Morelle, who succeeded Louise Slaughter and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018, commented on federal budget proposals, announced a television appearance, and invited constituents to participate in an upcoming virtual town hall.
On July 10, 2025, Morelle criticized proposed Medicaid cuts under former President Trump’s budget plan. He stated that “Slashing Medicaid means slashing care when people need it most. Under Trump’s budget, 1 in 4 nursing homes could shut down. In yet another cruel and dangerous move from Republicans, seniors across the country will be left out in the cold—literally.”
Later that day, on July 11, 2025, Morelle informed his followers about an upcoming live interview. He wrote: “I’ll be live on @NewsNation with @LelandVittert tonight. Tune in!”
On July 11, 2025, Morelle also promoted a virtual event for his constituents. He posted: “Join me on July 14th at 5:30 PM for a Virtual Town Hall. Register here, or tune in to the livestream on YouTube: https://t.co/EoPsEml3us https://t.co/2GINznHV3f”
Joseph Morelle was born in Utica, New York in 1957 and currently resides in Irondequoit. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1986.
