Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, used his social media platform on July 18, 2025, to criticize recent legislative actions by House Republicans and to advocate for working families.
In a post made at 13:04 UTC, Morelle stated, “Once again, House Republicans are rubber-stamping reckless and cruel spending cuts that will have a direct impact on communities like ours.” He followed this message with another tweet inviting the public to read his full statement: “Read my full statement here: https://t.co/7BGTvQjTHw”.
Later in the day at 16:10 UTC, Morelle posted about economic priorities and criticized the Trump administration’s policies regarding wealth distribution. He wrote, “Invest in working families! While the cost of living continues to rise, the Trump administration would rather give handouts for billionaires than prioritize affordability and the resources American families need to thrive.”
Joseph Morelle has served as a member of Congress since succeeding Louise Slaughter in 2018. Prior to his tenure in Washington D.C., he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his election to Congress. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
