U.S. Representative Joe Morelle, who serves New York’s 25th district, has expressed concern over recent federal actions impacting healthcare and addiction support programs in a series of tweets posted on January 14 and 15, 2026.
On January 14, Morelle criticized the Trump administration for cutting funding to crisis programs, stating: “The Trump administration is once again abandoning people in crisis. These programs save lives. Pulling the rug out from under people struggling with addiction or mental illness is devastating and cruel. This funding must be restored immediately.”
The following day, he addressed potential increases in health insurance premiums if Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits are not extended. In his tweet dated January 15, Morelle wrote: “Without ACA premium tax credits, families everywhere will face unaffordable premium increases. We passed an extension of these credits in the House, we need @SenateGOP to act quickly and join us in protecting access to care for millions of Americans.” He also shared a link for further reading later that day: “Read more: https://t.co/rbtQAyOhto”
