Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, has recently used his social media platform to comment on current political developments and announce constituent services.
On November 19, 2025, Morelle criticized a provision in the recent government funding package. He stated, “A provision in the recent government funding package allows eight Republican U.S. Senators to sue for millions of dollars of taxpayer funds. This kind of self-serving, self-dealing, one-sided get-rich-quick scheme is why Americans are so disgusted with this Republican Congress.”
The following day, Morelle reminded students about an upcoming deadline for Service Academy Nomination Applications. On November 20, he posted: “Service Academy Nomination Applications are due TOMORROW! We’re looking for high school students interested in applying to one of our nation’s prestigious military academies. Visit my website for more information: https://t.co/SLKW1BSoLf”
Later that same day, Morelle addressed actions by former President Donald Trump regarding federal agencies. He wrote on November 20: “Donald Trump is weaponizing the Department of Justice and the United States Treasury to reward allies and punish his perceived enemies. That’s not how democracy works.”
Joseph Morelle succeeded Louise Slaughter as representative for New York’s 25th district in 2018 after serving in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a BA in 1986.
