Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, has recently voiced concerns on social media regarding the current administration’s policies and actions.
On August 12, 2025, Morelle posted, “It’s no secret this administration is more focused on voter suppression than solving the real issues voters face, but it’s startling to be so blatant about the desire to strip half our country of their fundamental right to vote.”
Continuing his criticism, Morelle addressed former President Donald Trump in a post dated August 13, 2025: “Trump wants to rewrite history to suit his ego—I definitely don’t want my grandchildren visiting his version of a museum… I will keep fighting for the @Smithsonian’s independence.”
In another tweet from August 13, 2025, Morelle described his recent engagement with local seniors: “I joined seniors at @ESLC_Rochester yesterday to discuss the threats they’re facing to programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. While the Trump administration targets these essential services, I’ll keep advocating for ways to strengthen them.”
Joseph Morelle succeeded Louise Slaughter in Congress after her passing in 2018. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his congressional election. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
