Joseph Morelle, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, has been actively engaging with his community through various events and discussions. Morelle, who took over from Louise Slaughter in 2018 and has served in Congress since then, continues to show commitment to cultural recognition, educational support, and labor union advocacy.
On June 20, 2025, Morelle acknowledged the contributions of the Caribbean American community during #CaribbeanAmericanHeritageMonth. He expressed pride in celebrating “the vibrant culture and rich history” of this community in Rochester and mentioned honoring individuals who have significantly impacted the region.
The following day, June 21, 2025, Morelle participated in a discussion with the @RCSDNYS Board of Education. During this engagement, he emphasized his dedication to supporting public schools by defending funding and ensuring that “every child deserves the opportunity to learn and gain skills for a successful life.”
Later on June 21st, Morelle joined members of UA Local 13 at their annual summer event. In his tweet about the gathering, he noted that it is “always a joy” to be part of such celebrations. He reaffirmed his longstanding support for labor unions and pledged continued backing for their efforts to uplift families within the community.
Joseph Morelle was born in Utica, New York in 1957 and currently resides in Irondequoit. His career includes serving in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his election to Congress. A graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo with a BA obtained in 1986, Morelle remains committed to addressing issues pertinent to his constituents.
