U.S. Congressman Joseph Morelle, representing New York’s 25th district, has taken to social media to express his views on congressional ethics and government accountability in a series of posts dated November 19, 2025.
In a tweet posted at 14:40 UTC, Morelle stated, “I support banning Members of Congress from trading stocks. That ban should extend to the President, Vice President, and Supreme Court. The cost of corruption is passed down to Americans. It has to stop. Join me for @HouseAdm_Dems hearing on the STOCK Act:”
Later that day at 17:30 UTC, he criticized Senate Republicans regarding a funding bill provision: “Senate Republicans snuck a corrupt bargain into their funding bill that provides millions of dollars in payouts funded by taxpayers. I’m leading the debate on the House floor on legislation that would eliminate this provision. Follow along:”
In another post at 18:54 UTC, Morelle addressed concerns about public confidence in government institutions: “Public trust is at an all-time low. We must hold ourselves—and others in power—to a higher standard.”
Joseph Morelle has represented New York’s 25th district in Congress since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica, New York in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
