Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district and founder and co-chair of the Congressional Optics & Photonics Caucus, has reiterated his commitment to bipartisan cooperation and government investment in quantum technology. On July 17, 2025, Morelle posted a series of statements on social media addressing legislative priorities and commemorating civil rights leader John Lewis.
In a post from July 17, 2025 at 16:02 UTC, Morelle stated: “As the Founder and Co-Chair of @OPCaucus, I’m proud to continue advocating for increased government investment in quantum. It is Congress’ responsibility to work across the aisle to maintain America’s leadership in this space.”
Later that day at 17:35 UTC, he shared a brief message about opportunity in America: “Everyone deserves the American Dream.”
At 21:12 UTC on the same day, Morelle marked the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing with a call to protect voting rights: “Today marks five years since we lost a good friend and incredible advocate for the American people, Congressman John Lewis. We honor his memory by continuing the fight he and so many others have bravely fought to ensure every eligible American voter’s access to the ballot box.”
Joseph Morelle has served as U.S. Representative for New York’s 25th District since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his election to federal office.1 Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit,2 Morelle holds a BA from SUNY Geneseo.3
