Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, recently shared updates on social media regarding voter participation, community resources for people with disabilities, and advancements in eye care. Morelle, who has served in Congress since 2018 after replacing Louise Slaughter and previously held a seat in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018, used his platform to highlight key issues affecting his constituents.
On September 4, 2025, Morelle addressed concerns about voter turnout and access to voting. He stated: “In the last presidential election, 1 in 3 Americans didn’t vote. We should be making it easier—not harder—for people to make their voices heard. As the top Democrat on @HouseAdm_Dems, I’m committed to protecting every eligible American’s right to vote and pushing back against https://t.co/Ck9pS7WpeJ”.
The following day, September 5, he highlighted his visit to Starbridge Inc., an organization providing services for people with disabilities. Morelle wrote: “Today, I joined @Starbridgeinc for a tour of their facility and to learn more about the critical services they provide to connect people with disabilities in all stages of life to local resources. Together, we’re working to protect access to resources that uplift our community.”
Later that same day, Morelle discussed his meeting with representatives from Flaum Eye Institute. He posted: “The @FlaumEye Institute has a long history of leading the way in ophthalmology and vision science advancements. We met today to discuss how they lead the region in specialty eye care and continue to advance treatments that change lives in our community and beyond.”
Joseph Morelle was born in Utica, New York in 1957 and currently resides in Irondequoit at age 65. He is an alumnus of the State University of New York at Geneseo where he earned a BA degree in 1986.
