Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district and Ranking Member of the House Administration Committee, addressed issues related to voting rights, healthcare, and election worker safety in a series of posts on February 3, 2026.
In one post marking the anniversary of the 15th Amendment, Morelle stated: “Americans should NEVER fear exercising their right to vote because of their race. That principle was enshrined in 1870 with the ratification of the 15th Amendment. On its anniversary, as Ranking Member of @HouseAdm_Dems, I’m honoring that legacy by continuing the fight to” (February 3, 2026).
Addressing healthcare policy later that day, Morelle wrote: “We need affordable healthcare! @HouseDemocrats passed an extension to the ACA tax credits over three weeks ago. The Senate is failing hard working Americans, especially small business owners, by refusing to act.” (February 3, 2026).
On the subject of election security and worker safety, he posted: “Election workers deserve respect and safety. We must support them with real resources and put an end to the rising tide of political violence that puts them at risk. Free and fair elections depend on it.” (February 3, 2026).
Joseph Morelle has represented New York’s 25th district in Congress since succeeding Louise Slaughter in 2018. Prior to his congressional service, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his election to Congress in 2018. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
