U.S. Congressman Joe Morelle, who represents New York’s 25th district, recently addressed issues of voter participation, government transparency, and constituent services in a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
On April 18, 2026, Morelle highlighted concerns about civic engagement: “When 80 million voting age people don’t participate in a presidential election, it’s a pretty big warning sign. Americans have lost faith in their government. I joined @HC_Richardson to share how I’m leading the work that’s necessary to restore their trust.”
Later that day, he criticized the Trump Administration’s approach to public accountability regarding military expenditures: “Clearly, transparency is not a priority for the Trump Administration. We don’t know exactly how much has been spent on Trump’s war in Iran, but we do know that’s money that could have had a real impact on the lives of hardworking American families here at home.”
On April 19, Morelle turned attention to his office’s efforts to assist constituents: “Every day, my team helps our community navigate federal agencies, access important resources, and secure money owed to them. I’m proud to say we’ve already returned more than $950,000 this year. To learn how we may be able to assist you, visit: https://t.co/L39l2bsbrT”
Joseph Morelle has served as U.S. Representative for New York’s 25th District since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his congressional election. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit at age 65, Morelle holds a BA from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
