Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, recently shared a series of posts on his social media highlighting student opportunities, voting rights concerns, and local sports support.
On January 10, 2026, Morelle wrote, “Supporting our students with big opportunities is how we build a stronger future! It’s great to see the next generation of leaders joining internships and positions that will help advance their studies and build experience.”
Later that day, he addressed national policy issues in another post: “The Voting Rights Act has been reauthorized under Republican and Democratic presidents and Congresses, until now. Now, it’s under attack by the Trump administration, and when Americans have their rights constrained, we don’t have a democracy anymore.” This comment reflects ongoing debates over voting rights legislation in the United States.
On January 11, 2026, Morelle expressed support for his local football team: “It’s gameday! Cheering on the @BuffaloBills today as they start their trek to the Super Bowl. Go Bills!”
Morelle succeeded Louise Slaughter in Congress in 2018 after previously serving in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a BA in 1986.
