Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, recently used his social media platform to address a range of policy issues and events impacting his constituents and the nation.
On February 23, 2026, Morelle highlighted upcoming changes to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligibility, stating: “New SNAP eligibility changes take effect in March and our community needs to be ready. I joined @CountyExecBello and @CityRochesterNY to make sure families know their options. We’ll never stop fighting for policies that ensure everyone has access to healthy and affordable food.”
The following day, February 24, Morelle addressed concerns regarding former President Donald Trump’s intentions regarding electoral power: “President Trump is not shy about saying he’ll use his power in an unconstitutional way. I’m leading the fight stop his attempted take over of our elections.”
Later on February 24, Morelle marked the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with a statement of solidarity: “Four years after Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, we honor the courage of the Ukrainian people defending their land and freedom. America must continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies. I’ll be wearing my Ukrainian pin at the State of the Union in solidarity.”
Morelle succeeded Louise Slaughter in Congress in 2018 after serving nearly three decades in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica, New York in 1957, he resides in Irondequoit and holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo.
