Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, has used his social media platform to address recent legislative developments and community engagement opportunities.
On May 20, 2026, Morelle criticized Republican proposals regarding energy policy, stating: “Republicans are proposing cuts that undermine investments in our energy future. I’ll keep fighting for lower costs, stronger infrastructure, and programs that help families get ahead. Watch live as @AppropsDems fight back: https://t.co/sOd6ew0jRI”.
Later the same day, Morelle addressed former President Donald Trump’s alleged intentions concerning federal funds: “Donald Trump wants to take taxpayer dollars from families who are already struggling and give them out to his friends and allies through a slush fund. It’s despicable. Congressional Republicans must step in. https://t.co/IZP4zBUkUC”.
In a separate post on May 20, Morelle invited students and families to an informational event about U.S. Service Academy admissions: “Interested in attending a U.S. Service Academy? Join @SenGillibrand and me for an information night on May 27 in Rochester to learn more about the admissions and congressional nomination process. Students and families are encouraged to attend. https://t.co/XdCrRR7B5G”.
Joseph Morelle succeeded Louise Slaughter in Congress after her passing in 2018 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his election to Congress. Born in Utica, New York in 1957, he currently resides in Irondequoit and is an alumnus of the State University of New York at Geneseo.
