Joseph Morelle, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, has been vocal on various issues through his recent social media activity. Morelle, who succeeded Louise Slaughter in Congress in 2018 after serving in the New York State Assembly since 1991, recently addressed matters ranging from political accountability to community celebrations.
On May 16, 2025, Morelle emphasized the importance of upholding the law irrespective of one’s position or beliefs. He stated that “No one, including the President, should be allowed to violate the law simply because they do not agree with it.” He further stressed the necessity of holding the Trump administration accountable for what he termed as “illegal overreach.”
The following day, May 17, 2025, Morelle took to social media to recognize Armed Forces Day. In his post, he expressed gratitude for military members’ service and sacrifice and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting them through his work on @AppropsDems. He wrote: “Today, on Armed Forces Day, we honor the bravery, service, and sacrifice of our military members past and present.”
Later that day on May 17th, Morelle joined community members to celebrate a local milestone—the 80th anniversary of Don’s Original. He shared his experience by stating: “Glad to join my friends—Alayna and Reo Alderman—and members of our community to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Don’s Original!” The event highlighted the establishment’s significance as a longstanding part of summer traditions.
Joseph Morelle was born in Utica in 1957 and currently resides in Irondequoit. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
