Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, addressed a range of community and national issues in a series of tweets published between February 2 and February 3, 2026.
On February 2, Morelle emphasized the importance of supporting small businesses and maintaining healthcare access: “Small businesses are at the core of our communities. We must protect access to care by extending the ACA tax credits!”
The following day, he criticized actions by federal officials and Republican lawmakers regarding election oversight: “This is what corruption looks like. The President is misusing federal law enforcement to try and rewrite elections, while Republicans try to push voter suppression bills through Congress. We won’t let it happen.” This statement reflects ongoing debates over voting rights legislation and executive authority in federal elections.
Later on February 3, Morelle celebrated achievements from Rochester’s musical community: “Proud to see so many Eastman School of Music alumni and faculty take home Grammys this year. What a testament to Rochester’s world-class talent. And a special nod to the late Chuck Mangione, whose sound continues to bring pride to our community.” The recognition highlights the prominence of local artists on a national stage.
Joseph Morelle has served as U.S. Representative for New York’s 25th District since succeeding Louise Slaughter in 2018; before that, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 through 2018. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
