Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, has recently addressed issues ranging from the economic impact of foreign conflict to election reform in a series of posts on social media.
On April 16, 2026, Morelle highlighted the domestic financial effects of international events, stating, “The war in Iran has already cost Americans over $19 BILLION in higher gas prices. That’s $150+ more per household, just to fill up for the daily commute. This is what global instability looks like at home. We need leadership focused on lowering costs, not raising them.”
The following morning, April 17, he announced an upcoming media appearance: “I’ll be live on @CNNThisMorning in just a few minutes, tune in!”
Later that day, Morelle discussed legislative efforts related to election workers: “Proud to introduce the Poll Worker Tax Cut Act with @RepGLatimer. Poll workers are essential to free & fair elections. They shouldn’t be penalized for stepping up to serve. This bill ensures their earnings aren’t taxed as income. Let’s support those who support our democracy.”
Joseph Morelle succeeded Louise Slaughter as representative for New York’s 25th district and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his congressional election in 2018. Born in Utica and residing in Irondequoit, Morelle holds a BA from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
