Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, has recently shared his views on several national issues and local achievements through a series of posts on social media.

On January 13, 2026, Morelle criticized former President Donald Trump for actions related to the Department of Justice and the Federal Reserve. He stated, “Once again President Trump is weaponizing the DOJ to serve his own personal interests. An independent @federalreserve is critical to safeguarding our economy, we cannot allow Trump’s corrupt abuse of power to put that at risk.”

Later that day, Morelle addressed concerns about public trust in government by advocating for stricter regulations on stock trading among high-ranking officials. On January 13, 2026, he wrote: “I’m committed to a total stock trading ban that will help restore faith in our government. Members of Congress, the President, Vice President, members of the cabinet and the Supreme Court should not be allowed to trade individual stocks.”

In another post from January 13, 2026, Morelle celebrated a local sports achievement: “Proud of Rochester’s own Ernie Clement as he earns a spot on Team USA for the World Baseball Classic! His hard work and hometown grit continue to inspire us all. Excited to see him represent Rochester and the USA!”

Joseph Morelle has served in Congress since succeeding Louise Slaughter in 2018 after previously serving in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle holds a BA from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
